This pot fills a real need it the kitchen. It holds a large volume, but still fits on the stove. I've used it on both gas and electric burners, it will not work on induction burners, as it has an aluminum core in the bottom. I mention the electric burners because some thinner stock pots don't sit flat, and that can be frustrating. I use it for simmering stock, cooking pasta, and an occasional batch of jam when the jam pot is already full. While it's not ideal for the purpose, the aluminum bottom heats evenly. I've also fit several bamboo steamers inside the pot. When your dutch oven is just not big enough, this well made stock pot will fit the bill.
