Update: I've used this kettle every day for over 5 years now and I'm very pleased to say it still works as wonderfully as it did my first time using it. Everything about it has held up. The handle is still stiff when I move it aside for refills, the whistle still sounds loudly, and it's still as stable and sturdy as when it was new. While I was searching for a great kettle I'd seen some poor reviews of other brands kettles and wondered how any manufacturer could mess up on a simple kettle to boil water. I read about everything from rust issues (most were outside but also a few inside), warping, the whistle breaking apart after only a few days, handles falling off etc.I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to say I love this kettle! It is the biggest, shiniest, most beautiful thing! It heats the water much quicker than my old one which is interesting because it's much bigger and holds so much more.Unfortunately I made the mistake of using the scrub side instead of the soft side of the sponge on the outside of the kettle, and although I didn't rub hard and quickly caught myself and changed to the soft sponge I can see where it caused some abrasion. But even with that once I gave it a quick buff it still shines! The handle doesn't get very hot if you pick it up as soon as it starts whistling but it will if you leave it sounding for a minute or two. At least it doesn't to me but I have asphalt hands lol. The whistle works all of the time. It starts out soft but your neighbors will know you're home if you leave it for too long because it absolutely screams at full boil. This was a wonderful find for me. I was in search of a larger kettle that holds a good amount of water because I drink a lot of tea. I grew annoyed with constantly having to refill my old kettle. It is a bit heavy when full but considering the size and the amount of water it holds it's still balanced fairly well and easy to handle while pouring. Because of the weight even though it's easy to handle I wouldn't recommend this for an elderly person or anyone who has a problem lifting heavy objects, but for anyone else this thing is a total dream if you drink a good amount of hot drinks.Note: After more than a year or more of daily use the lid began popping off once the water got hot, but because I always made sure the handle was straight up the lid would simply hit the handle and flip over in place instead of bouncing all over the place. I checked the lid and found little notches on the side of it where it goes down inside the pot. I simply used a small flat head screwdriver to pull each one out a tiny bit and it solved the problem. Because it's a solid little kettle it's held up and I've never had that issue again.Definitely worth the money!
