Description
Recorded between March 1961 and March 1962 over a total of five separate sessions, Pot Luck was finally ready for release in June 1962. Whilst never quite attaining the status of Elvis' earlier albums, it still performed well, peaking at #4 in the US. However, Elvis, popularity in the UK showed no sign of diminishing, where the album would become his seventh chart topper, as well as becoming his fifteenth consecutive album to make the Top 5 (out of fifteen releases). Much of the album was written by long time Elvis collaborators Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, who composed five of the album's twelve tracks.

Purchased this album on vinyl when it first came out. Was disappointed at first but found myself playing it quite a bit over the years. Sold my vinyl collection several years ago and decided that I needed to replace Pot Luck. The album had some hits on it, some by Elvis and some covered by other artists and it represents his studio recordings that were produced after he got out of the Army and before they realized that the money was being made on his movie soundtracks, which except for his first few movies were not so good. "(Such an)Easy Question", "She's Not You", "Just for Old Time's Sake", are standout songs, but I could list them all as standouts. This album in original form was number 4 for eighteen weeks. This was not up to standards because Elvis usually was number one for many weeks, but it remains a great album by almost anyone's standards.Any Elvis fan will give this four or five stars because it deserves them.
