I placed a his honeysuckle in front of my fence one week ago. The plant came well wrapped and protected. I let u know how it grows in the next few weeks. This came in a 2 1/2" pot. The roots were OK and the leaves were green and healthy. I've learned to follow the garden centers' advice. Dig a hole at least twice as big around, say at least 5-6" in diameter; and at least 8-10" deep. Deeper and wider if soil is sandy or clay. I use Scotts topsoil to fill. Try to remove as much of the potting soil (if present) as possible without damaging the roots. Then I press the dirt around the plant with my feet - not too compacted. I use diluted Miracle Gro once new leaves appear. Yellow leaves usually mean too much water. Brown leaves means not enough water. We got these 2 beauties around the beginning of April, planted them a week or so later and you can see how they have taken off. Yes, they came looking like a twig....a healthy green twig. But if you follow the directions, they take off! Much faster than I expected! Get them in the ground and water daily for the first several weeks. They love the sun! And once they take off, they seem to have done great only being watered about once a week! We are so pleased with this purchase!!I dont know why I expected a larger plant, but I did. It came in a box marked "live plant" and was nestled in packing peanuts. Didnt see any shipping damage, and no dirt spilled. That was probably due to the masking tape that sealed it in(visible on pictures).Ive planted it, and will watch it carefully for any problems, but dont forsee any. Shipping was fast and price was good.I planted this over a month ago and it has not grown at all. It hasn't died but it also hasn't gotten bigger. All other honeysuckle I planted is doing fine but sadly this one has not. Maybe it just needs more time. I do feel shipping may have hurt it. It arrived upside down and while it was still in place, it was obvious the box had been thrown around during shipping since there was damage to it. Hopefully it'll get better but at this point I'd recommend getting this plant elsewhere.I purchased this earlier in the summer. I received a 7 or 8 inch branch and didn't think it was going to do much. It has taken off with feeding and proper care. It's over 6 foot long now. and I'm pruning it already so it will branch out and become fuller. I love the color in this honeysuckle and so do the hummingbirds! It looked a little dead when it arrived with just one leaf on it, but it grew so very fast once I got it in some dirt. It was a very healthy cut of the plant and even left outside in the bitter cold and rain, it still grew more branches and leaves!!! I would definitely buy from this seller again! It’s doing very wellRepotted and it is growing and thriving. No flowers yet but not planted in ground yet. Waiting for cooler weather.
