This is a wonderful classy clay pot. It bakes incredibly delicious food on the stove, such as baked oatmeal, soup, stew, rice. Exceptional even, gentle heating yeilds delicious results.Clay pots require a couple of extra steps. Never heat without something in the pot, a little butter or oil or water to start. Raise temperature slowly, 3 minutes on low, 3 more at 1, 3 more at 2, etc. Never heat higher than 3 on a ten point stove. And that's hot enough to stir fry. Just let the pot heat up in its own natural time. It's slower cooking. When you cover to simmer always reduce heat to low. The merging of flavors is really fine!2024 Update. Pot still performs beatifully after four years. Using an older electric element stove now, I can cook as high as six on a ten point scale.. Just always move temperature up in stages. Also sautees and pan fries great. Remember to stir often to keep foods from sticking. Amazingly flavorful results. Don't be in a rush.
